About The Instructor
Lisa Taira studied the traditional Ikenobo Ikebana Style of floral arrangement from the age of 8 to 17. In 1976, Lisa’s mother Mutsuko purchased Kiyo’s Floral and Lisa has been arranging Ikebana inspired arrangements for more than 43 years.
What will I learn?
Lisa will teach students about the basic Kakeizu (pattern) of Moribana style (basic upright style) of Ikebana. The students will learn about the shushi, which are the three main branches - the shin (truth) branch, the soe (supporting) branch and the hikae (moderating) branch.
How will the class be structured?
The classes will be more interactive and fun. Lisa is hopeful that students will learn to appreciate the natural beauty of flowers and to develop an inner peace and tranquility while arranging the flowers.
How much will the class cost?
The introductory classes will consist of 3 two hour classes and include a starter kit (valued at $150 -see picture) will be $250. Kiyo’s will supply the flowers to be used in all of the classes.
